How to make mashed potatoes

Peel and quarter your potatoes. Place them in hot/boiling water and cook until a knife pierces them easily. You should feel no ‘crunch’ inserting the knife to know they are well cooked.

Place them in a large bowl and start mashing. Add a tablespoon or so of butter and some salt. Then, according to taste you may add cream and fresh chopped chives.
