With a little bit of imagination and a few good ingredients, a stir fry is a quick meal that can go down a treat. For this recipe you will need:
- beef cut into strips
- green pepper, chopped
- cherry tomatoes, halved
- hoisin sauce
- soy sauce
- 3 or 4 tablespoons of tomato sauce
- sunflower seeds or pine nuts
Before you start chopping your vegetables, marinade your beef strips in plenty of soy sauce and a dash of hoisin sauce. This way it will have some time to seep in while you get everything else ready. Mix it around, really get your hands in there and make sure all the beef is soaked in your mixture – wash your hands well before and after that :)
Chop up the vegetables into bite size. Start by frying your green pepper in some oil. If you like you may add some garlic also. The pepper will need some minutes on its own before adding the other ingredients – if you add the beef too early you might overcook it waiting for the pepper to cook.
Add the sunflower seeds so that they will have space to roast for about 2 minutes before adding the tomatoes and beef strips. Stir continuously to make sure the beef cooks and just before it is ready add the tomato sauce and a teaspoon of sugar.
Serve with bread for dipping!
